Three Things

Image
Since I have taken a long break I feel doing three things on each of us would be a good catch up.  Derek loves to tell stories, he likes to embellish every detail, and throw in a good laugh every chance he gets. He loves to incorporate current things with fiction, and it is best listening to what he will come up with.  He is the kindest kid I know. He cares so much about so many things and he loves to help others. On his birthday weekend in Dallas, he saw a lady taking out the trash and he went over there and helped her pick up the trash lid, I have never been so pleased with my kiddo.  We did Young Writes this year, and to witness him blossom through his creativity was so much fun. He loves to draw, color, and put his imagination on paper. WOW his vocabulary has really blossomed this year. Some of our favorites are Gummy Bears are Buddy Bears/ Strawberries are Strawbobbies/ When he doesn't want to walk, he says- Picks you up.  He loves to talk, all th

Welcome Back!

I am back in the blogging world. Things got really busy and I had to let go of some things! I am not going to lie, it has been a tough year; between kids, school, work, life,  and maintaining a family, I have been really struggling to keep it all together. In January I took 2 classes in an effort to finish my Master's degree by the fall. That was more of a load than I expected, and I wanted to spend extra time with my family, so I put this on pause. Oh, how I have missed it though. Derek was struggling in Kindergarten, so I had to devote more time with him to improve his reading and writing skills. Looking on the other side of it now, I am so happy I did, as he is reading at his level, and his writing is getting better. We all want the best for our kids, and the last thing was wanted was for Derek to be behind going into the 1st Grade.  All our hard work paid off and he graduated from Kindergarten. It was a rough start, but we got through it and he is ready to start 1st grade.

Weekend recap

We had a fun-filled weekend with activities, family, and fun. We Kicked off the weekend by welcoming Ricky's family Thursday night. Friday morning we got up and had breakfast, and enjoyed some family time. Later that day we meet up with Derek for the Hawk Hustle, an obstacle course hosted by the school to promote physical activity. Derek was so excited for the Hawk Hustle, as we have been talking about it all week.  Here we are waiting for brother to arrive.  Derek was having a blast running and jumping.  His favorite part was the bounce house.  "I'm not tired mom, I'm having a good time"  After that, we headed back home to play games and visit for a little while.  That afternoon we headed to the bowling alley for some fun. Derek was so excited, as he loves to bowl.  He was so serious and so independent.  He even let little brother have a turn.  He was having a great time.  Saturday morning w

February Recap

We have had a fun month full of lots of family time.  Just a dad and his Mini-Me.  I told Ricky that we needed to take more pictures together, so here we are.  One night, I was cleaning out Dylan's closet, and it became a family thing, complete with cool shades.  Brother is waiting patiently in the background for his turn with the shades.  I am donating a lot of baby items, but Derek had to try it out, one last time. My how he has grown.  I working on a few things, and walk into the room and see this, sweet brotherly love.  We also meet up with our friends for a movie date to see The Lego Movie 2.  At the end of the month, we had back to back parties at IJump. Derek really wanted to master the climbing wall, but he just didn't have the confidence.  The next day he got this high, and he was so proud of himself. Dylan also found his love for IJump, and we played in the play area the whole time.  Motivating Derek

January Happenings

The Christmas Season has ended, and we have started a new year.  Welcome, 2019!! I am trying to do better at taking more pictures and being present in the pictures.  On this particular day, Dylan was being extra cute. Derek is over the moon with his push Pokemon toys, and he sure does love oatmeal.  However, Dylan has taken over Pikachu and Eve and sleeps with them every night. The other night, the boys were snuggled up close and playing so well, I had to document it. Derek celebrated 100 days of school, and we had a blast making his shirt. I enjoyed the baby snuggles a little longer, because having him still, and asleep in my arms is a rare sight nowadays. He won't be this "little" ever again.

Holiday Season Part 2

Holiday Season 2018 Part 2 Santa Came. I was so excited for the boys, that I didn't sleep much Christmas Eve. The next morning Derek came to the bed and said, Mom, there are presents under the tree. For our house, we wait to reveal all the presents Christmas morning, so it is a big reveal.  We patiently waited for brother and daddy to wake up so we could open presents.  Oh my, what a big Nerf gun you have.  We always need new Dallas Cowboys gear.  Derek got a whole collection of Pokemon Plush toys, and he was so happy to open Pikachu.  The item Derek wanted the most was a Spider-Man costume and Santa didn't disappoint. Since little brother is into all the things big brother is into, he thought it would be nice if they got matching costumes.  Big Brother Love.  After a little play time, we headed to DeQueen to have Christmas with the family.  Then games afterward, I am so grateful that my kids have the opportuni
