4 Months Old

Image
WOW another month has passed, Derek is now 4 months old. Things are going pretty good this month, Derek has started sleeping through the night, which we thought would never happen!  He is also is getting his own personality and loves it when someone talks to him. He will coo, and smile right back at you and in his own way, he is talking back! For the first time this month I was able to get him to laugh, out loud, it was one of the best feelings, however I got so excited when he did it, that my reaction scared him, and he would not laugh after that; fortunately he has overcome that. Now he laughs all the time. He loves to put his fingers in his mouth and suck on his thumb. Also, this month, we went on a trip to see grandpa Rikk and family, and he did really well on the trip. We planned it around his naps, and the trip was a lot of fun! It was nice to see family that we don't get to see very often, and to be able to see Derek with his grandpa!

3 Months Old

Can you believe Derek is 3 months old? Well this has been an exciting month for us! Derek has learned he has a tongue and that it is meant to be stuck out. He will do that about 10 times a day, not that I encourage him, LOL, or maybe just a little bit. Plus he has the smiling down, and I know that is his way of showing me he knows me and loves me. He also loves to chew on his fingers, once he discovered them!  I am not sure if this is early or not, but he is getting very good at holding his head up, all that tummy time, sure has paid off! Since Derek was born, we have always been told he looks like a little man, or he has an older man face, which is apparently very cute in a baby, and I have to agree. With some of his facial expressions, he could pass for an older man in a baby's body. I have even thought about buying one of those mustache pacifiers, just to see what he would look like, but since he doenst take a pacifier, I didnt do it; however this picuture is the perfec

Everyday life

Looking back, I wish I would have started a blog right after Derek was born, instead I get to relive all the memories and find myself playing catch up for each post! One day I will be caught up to his actual age, but as I am writing each post, life still goes on, which leads me to my new post! Corn casserole disaster! I am always looking for new recipes to try and possibly move into our weekly meals! Well I found a side dish recpie for corn casserole, and thought I have got to try that, but I needed a meal to go with it! The next day I got a call for a family get together, potluck style, so I thought it would be the  perfect time to try this new recipe! So I go to the store, get all the ingredients, so I could make it for the get together! It took 45 minutes to cook in the oven, so I knew I would be a little late for the dinner, since it was at 6 and I had a 30 minute drive, but I knew it would be worth it! Yesterday, I rush home from work get all the ingredients together and p

2 Months Old

WOW time sure does go by fast! Derek is now 2 months old! This has been a great month, Derek is still struggling with his nights and days, but we are slowly getting it figured out. He has started to focus his eyes, smile and stick out his tongue, for a short minute! He has had a few good nights where he slept from 8pm-3am,, in return I woke up in shock that he slept that long, but was very happy for the much needed rest!                               This Month was the first big overnight trip for Derek and I, we went to visit his Uncle Clint and Aunt Tara in Tulsa, OK. That was a fun trip, but it was hard for us at night since Derek had never been away from home over night, but it was nice to visit family! Derek has started staying awake longer in the afternoon, and we finally had to move up to 0-3 month clothes, which was a sad moment for me to take away all his newborn clothes, but it is just one reminder that he is never going to be this little again! I also had t

Wow it is amazing how much your world changes as soon as you bring a baby home! Getting to go home from the hospital was a chore, Derek had a hard time latching and the hospital would not let us go home till he ate for at least 15 minutes, after 20 minutes of trying he finally latched, the nurse was happy so she let us get ready to go home!                                           Once home, we had to introduce our new addition to our dogs, that was interesting, we let the dogs sniff and investigate the new "toy" in the house, but they knew, it was not a toy and something very fragile! Then we introduced him to his new home, room by room! The first night was a rough one, we were up every 2-3 hours, fortunately my mom stayed with us to help! The latching was not successful, so we gave up and went to a bottle, which made me feel better, knowing he was actually getting some food! The down side to that, I would spend may hours in the future attached to a pump! The first we

The day was finally here, July 27, in less that 24 hours we would be in the hospital, getting ready to meet this little baby, that we have talked about for years, especially the last nine months! We arrived at the hospital about 7:00 PM Friday night, got hooked up to all the monitors, and the wait began. About 9:00 they came in to give me the first dose of Cytotec to help me dilate. An hour passed of me listening to the monitor, that was very loud, and trying to get some sleep, so finally I had to call the nurse to ask her to turn it down! Then every time I would try to move, the baby would go off the monitor, so trying to sleep, but be still, was difficult! Finally morning arrived, and they came to check me, and with little progress, the Dr decided to break my water, at 7:30.  All morning the nurse had said I was having contractions, but I was not feeling them, so I was feeling pretty good about myself.  So for the next few hours, it was a waiting game to see if I would progress,

Baby #1 On The Way

Ricky and I knew we wanted to wait a little while before we decided to have kids! At the place we were in our lives, I knew that was the right decision! After 3 years of marriage and many fun times together as husband and wife, we decided it was time to expand our little family! Much to our surprise, 2 months later we were expecting! Now for someone that come from a  large family, I am thinking in my head that raising kids and pregnancy was going to be awesome and a breeze! Boy was I wrong! We got conformation on December 3, 2011 that we were going to have a baby! Shortly after that morning sickness set in! This lasted for about 14 weeks, I kept telling myself, it's not that bad, it's ok, just deal with it, but the morning, a.k.a all day sickness, just kept getting worse, and I just didn't feel good! People kept telling me it will go away, or you could have it for 9 months, and all I could think was, I am not sure how I am going to function every day if I feel like

A little about me

A long time ago... well,  I'm not that old yet. Actually 7 1/2 years ago I met the one person who would love me unconditionally and would stick with me through hard times! He is the best person God could have made for me and my Best Friend!  We have had some great times together, and have grown so much as a couple and now as a family! Ricky and I started out as 2 young college kids, living in our home town of De Queen, with nothing to do and a dream to make something big of ourselves, go to college, leave this small town and live in the big city. Things were going great, we got out of De Queen, and moved to Magnolia, and was working towards finishing our education. Ricky in Business Accounting and Finance and I in Business Finance, little did I know, down the road, that would not be the degree for me. The 2 years in Magnolia were very hard for me, as someone that had grown up convinced she knew what she was doing and had it all figured out, life decided to throw me many curveba

What About Me...

Everyone has something that they love to do in there "free time." As for myself I have tried a few things that I liked but they never really stuck as a hobby, so I thought I would try blogging! I have had some exciting thing happen in my life and I know there are many more exciting things to come! Hopefully this blog will be one of them!  Until next time....
