The Rays of Sunshine

 Happy 6 Month Birthday! That's right, Derek is now 6 months old. We have made it half a year with this little guy, and I love him more and more each day. Derek has been doing really good, but he stopped sleeping through the night, come to find out, he was teething. At 5 months and 3 weeks old, Derek got his first 2 bottom teeth. We kinda thought he was teething but was not sure till the first tooth broke the skin. Derek thought that since he has been keeping us up so much, he thought he would make it up to us by cooking us dinner! Derek is now a roller. Since Derek has started rolling from this back to his stomach, I knew it was a matter of time before he would be rolling from his stomach to his back, and a few days after the new year, he did it! I was so happy and excited to see him figure out how to do this on his own.  You guessed it, now we cant keep him still. He rolls everywhere, which is really cute! Supper time is now fun time!    Bath time is one of my favorite parts of our nightly routine! After the water is ready I set him in the tub and begin to sprinkle water on his tummy! I lean him forward so he can splash and learn what bath time is all about! I want him to be a baby that loves to take a bath! Now as for "The Face Monster, " as you know every child HATES to have their face washed or wiped or and thing like that so one night during bath time I thought, what if I get him used to having his face washed, and make it a fun experience, will that make the process easier as he gets older? Well I thought I would give it a try! So now every night, before bath time ends, the face monster comes to visit! I take the washcloth, cover my fingers and call for the face monster, as my fingers slowly make their way to Derek's face, I get a smile, and sometimes a splash of water in the face, right before the face monster reaches his target! That tells me he is excited, and he loves the "Face Monst

The months just keep on passing. Derek is now 5 months old. This has been a pretty good month, but there isn't much going on for Derek. He has begun to roll from his back to his stomach, but not stomach to back. They say once he can do it both ways, there will be no stopping him! He is still growing and it amazes me, each day, of how much my life has changed since we have had him. I love this little guy. He is an amazing baby, and I love every part of being a mom. The looks that he gives you, and the smiles, it will melt your heart every time! This month we celebrated Christmas, and I got my Christmas present early this year, and I am so glad that he came when he did! He was pretty fascinated with the Christmas tree, we decided to put it up while he was taking a nap, and we wanted to see his reaction to the new "thing" taking up so much space in the living room, and once he saw it, he didn't know what to think about it, but he loved it!
