Gone with the Wind Chapters 30-40

Ok so I have gotten way behind on the updates with the book, so here we go short and sweet.

During this section of the book, Scarlet visits Rhett in the jail just like in the movie, but getting to Rhett was much more complicated that how it was in the movie. Also while Mammy does come to Atlanta with Scarlet, she does not go to the jail with her, as Scarlet sneaks away with out Mammy. She also intended to wear gloves because she knew the shape her hands were in, but she was not able to find a pair that would fit her hand.

While in the jail there is more said, but the movie does a good job of relaying the message. The one thing the movie does downplay, is the offer Scarlet makes to Rhett about being his mistress. Much bigger scene in the book.

After she leaves the jail, she walks to Franks store, that is where she runs into him, and all the talk is in the store, not in the carriage like the movie. Scarlet goes on to marry Frank for the money for Tara, but she does not return to Tara right after. She send the money to Will, and she knows that he will take care of it, so there is no need to go back to Tara.

There is a whole scene cut from the movie when Rhett gets out of jail he comes to the store where Scarlet has taken over. They have a long talk, and it results in Rhett loaning Scarlet money to buy the mill. Frank does not know this is how she got the money. Rhett had one requirement, she was not to use any of his money to help Ashley.
Frank is sick quite a bit, so that leaves Scarlet to take care of the store. Not long after they are married, Scarlet become pregnant with a baby girl.

Scarlet get a letter stating that her father has passed away. This is different than the book, he didn't die by jumping the fence. Suellen tried to get him to sing a contract to get more money, and it didn't go very well, and it made him a little bit more crazy, and he hopped on his house and feel off.
What you didnt see in the movie is the funeral. This is the first time Scarlet has come to Tara since she left to get money for Tara and married Frank.

Ashley does the funeral and Will tells Scarlet that he plans to marry Suellen. Since she will not likely find a husband, and Will doesn't want to leave, it only seems right that he marries her, and stays to take care of the farm.
