First day of School

We knew it was a long time coming, and the day is finally here.
Derek started Kindergarten on August 13th. I have been a whole ball of emotions for about a week now. I did my best to arrange where I would be able to pick him up and have mommy/ Derek time, and when that fell through, I feel apart.  Not only do I have to send him to Kindergarten, but I also have to entrust other people to transport my son to daycare via school bus. This stirred us so many emotions, and I worked my way through them all up until 5:00pm on August 13th. It was much harder on me then it was him, as I wanted him to know how AWESOME he was and how he was going to do so great.

Here we are buying school supplies. This was the lunch box he wanted.

The weekend before Kindergarten, we wanted to take Derek to his favorite spot- Kids Station.

He loves this place and played so hard for a solid 2 hours.

Sunday we did Kindergarten prep, talked to Derek about his new journey, and made sure he didn't have any questions or concerns.  He didn't really know what to ask or expect, but he was excited.

The night before, we asked him these questions.

1. How old are you?  6
2. What is your favorite color? Green
3. What is your favorite food? Hamburgers
4. What is your favorite TV show? LEGO Ninjago
5. What is your favorite holiday? Halloween
6. What is your favorite thing to do with Mom? Play Legend OF Zelda
7. What is your favorite thing to do with Dad? Be Crazy
8. What is your favorite thing to do with Dylan? Be Crazy
9. What are you most excited about this year in school? Go to school
10. What are you most nervous about this year in school? NO
11. What do you want to be when you grow up? Link
12. What is your favorite movie? LEGO Ninjago
13. What is your favorite toy/stuffed animal? Link
14. What is your favorite thing to wear? Soccer Ball Shirt ( very random answer)

That night, Ricky and I went through all the emotions, knowing that our little boy, was not long, little, and more. He would begin to have outside influences, and grow into his own person and develop his character.

The first day of school, and he was so excited.

Telling his brother goodbye.

Each morning, he will sit outside his classroom.

After the first day, he deemed Kindergarten to be A-MAZ-ING! He loves everything about it, and it very happy to go back.

Last year we struggled with the decision to keep Derek in Pre-K a second year, and today as we were dropping him off, we knew we made the right decision for our son and gained an extra year with this sweet kid.
