Whats for dinner?

It's the ago old question, "What's for Dinner?"

Sometimes don't you dread dinner, especially when you don't know what to cook.

I have the answer for you!

Ricky and I started this plan a LONG Time Ago, called Supper Lottery.

Here is how it works:
  • Write down the names of all your favorite recipes.
  • Put them in a cute jar, can, bottle, or what ever you can find.
  • Create your own "favorite recipe binder" where you keep all your best recipes.
  •  Before you make out your groceries list, "draw" 3 or 4 titles out of your jar, and that is what is for dinner that week. (Not really feeling like eating on of the dinners you pulled, simply place back in jar and draw again).
We list our main dishes, then plan sides around the dish, but if you really wanted to make it fun and interesting, you could also make a jar for side dishes too.

Now you are ready to pull out your binder of recipes and you can start to create your shopping list based on what you selected as meals.

Now that the meals are selected, how are you going to remember what was selected? This is where you can be creative. We took a picture frame, and some scrapbook paper, and made our menu board. I wrote "menu" and the days of the week on the paper, so every week, all you have to do is write down the selected dinner for that night with a dry erase marker.

I keep it in a place in the Kitchen where it can be seen at all times, and anyone can glance at it to see what is for dinner that night. This simple thing make the week go so much smother.

We also will add new recipes to the mix, and if they are a hit, we will "add that in the rotation". Also if a dish isn't working, don't be afraid to remove it from the mix.
